Third time's charm

or at least they say it is. I hope this attempt at blogging becomes fruitful. The other attempts were half-hearted.

So here's what I've been up to lately:

The weight loss sucks! The reason it sucks is because I've not made the effort to change. Sure a day here or a day there but nothing consistent. Every morsel counts. Every nibble. They all add up. Everyone says I've lost weight. Where I don't know because the scale doesn't testify to that and I sure don't feel like I have. Wednesday I headed back to Weight Watchers. I will make an attempt for the next 30 days. If there is not any results...weight loss.. I'm not going to fork out anymore money.

Evansville 1/2 marathon Training:
Training is done. Some days were good training sessions and others...well they were bad. In particular the 11 mile session. I started off at 7:00am. Headed down along the riverfront into some quant neighborhoods. We headed back towards downtown. Hit the first water stop at mile 3. I was going strong, feeling good. Caught up to some gals at about mile 5. Water stop at mile 6. Still feeling good. We get to mile 9 after about 2 1/2 hours. I'm thinking this is a piece of cake. It turned out to be a burnt cake. I hit a wall and it was all I could to keep one foot moving in front of the other. I've called my friend, Vicky, who also doing the 1/2 but walks much faster than I...much faster (14:24 pace). Thankfully she had her cell phone off. I kept on going. Actually I had no choice since the car was parked at the YMCA and no one would come get me. But I persevered and got it done. I was glad to reach that point in the training. Sunday is the day. The day we've trained for. This is the 3rd Evansville 1/2 marathon I've done. The 2nd for 2007. I'm shooting to better my time 3:45:06. Yes, I'm slow. Once the 1/2 marathon is over I'm going to figure out to get my legs moving faster. I do not know how people can walk a 12 minute mile. Charles's first and only 1/2 marathon in 2005 his pace was at 12:33. Boggles my mind how anyone can walk that fast...and yes he did walk. He had battle scars (bloody nipples) during one training session. Plus his knees would not hold up if he ran.

I've been trying to figure out to get the tools off my blog. Not that I'm computer swavy so if anyone has any ideas....please let me know. Otherwise they'll just have to stay.

That's about it in a nutshell.

Until next time,

Dixie
