Here I am! Here I am!
Wow so much going on. Our grandson, Dylan was born July 23rd. He almost made it to my birthday. I'll consider it as an early birthday present. I tried to post his picture but there must be an issue. I do so in a day or two.
Saturday I took Princess to her first quilt show. The Keck-Gonnerman show was at the Posey county 4-H Fairgrounds. It was a small show with a large selection of antigue quilts. The workmanship was beautiful. Princess was fine as long as her stroller was moving. She didn't like to be sitting still.
1/2 Marathon training is going full swing. Saturday was the first leg of the training runs with a 5K(3.1 miles). I didn't finish in the time I wanted but I did finish. I was on target to finish in under 45minutes till the last mile. The temp at 8:00am was 89* with 93% humidity. I ended up finishing in 52:40. Next event is a 10K(6.1miles) Sept 6th.
The WOW Sunday School class has started a new bible study title The PAPA Prayer by Larry Crabb. It's all about a way to pray. A way to talk to God a little and listen to God a lot. A special kind of two-way conversation. My prayer life is not where I want to be. Truthfully my walk with Christ is at times non-existant except on Sunday mornings. I'm hoping to gain some insights and instructions from scripture regarding prayer. Just how is it your to pray? If he hears my prayers why do I feel all alone?
Ok..getting too deep. I need to get the supper dishes done. Charles grilled pork chops. Smothered them with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce...YUMMMMM!! He added corn on the cob and I fixed some cheesy baked mashed potatos. I got the recipe from my cousin Lisa.
I was at the store and picked up Paula Deen's new magazine. There are a bunch of recipes I want to try. There was a recipe for Fruit Cocktail cake. I used to make that when I spent the night with my grammy. Excpet this one had a coconut icing. We always got to bake something and that was what I made everytime. When it came time for bed we would fix real cinnamon toast and hot tea. The kind where you spread butter on the bread then sprinkle cinnamon/sugar mixture. Put it under the broiler till it begins to bubble. Oh my gosh..calories galore but who cared. Childhood memories.
Under next time,
