Ahh.....my favorite time of the year.. fall is right around the corner. I love fall. Everything about it. The sounds, the colors, the smells, the temps, the different textures. I absolutely love it. Cooking soup in the crockpot. Pumpkin bread, caramel apples.
Where have I been and what have I been up to? NO WHERE and NOTHING. Yep.. not been doing anything but working and surfing the net. Well a few other things. But that is about to change. We're heading to the Smokey Mountians with some friends 1 week from Friday. We've rent a cabin in Townsend, TN. Plans are to do some hiking and see the beauty God created for us. I so hope with the cooler temps that the leaves will be turning to their fall splendor.
I've been doing some sewing for my soon to be great-niece. Although I did have to switch gears as my great-nephew who was expected to arrive in about 18 days in actually going to be a great-niece. Lucky for me as I already had this quilt top in the works. I used Aunt Grace 1930 reproduction prints. The block is called tumber.
The 1/2 marathon training has taken a backseat this week. It seems my left foot/ankle is having some issues with some stiffness. For some reason it just doesn't seem to be there this year. Not sure what the issues are there. If it's physical or mental or both.
My Mom is finally doing it! My parents had always planned to move to KY lake when my dad retired. But along came grandkids and he didn't want to move away from them so they stayed. His Parkinson disease became worse and my sister Steph eventually had to move in with my parents to help take care of my dad. He passed away in June of 2005. In Dec of that year my mom had open heart surgery. It looked as if her dream of moving south was not to be. But things have changed. My mom, younger sister, Steph and her two children, Nikki and Taylor are moving to Nashville, TN November 1st. My mom is so excited she can hardly sit still. They all are excited. I'm excited for them but at the same time sad. After all that's my mom. I've always lived within 20 minutes of her. She has a difficult time breathing during the summer in the Ohio Valley. Her dr has told her repeatedly to move out of this area. Life throws you lemons and you can either sweeten them and make lemonade or pucker up and turn sour. They're making lemonade.
Last night I spent the evening help her sort through her cookbooks and what-not's. Yard sale items, trash items, give away items. She gave me both of my grandma's cookbooks. My grammy's deviled egg plate, cake stand and other assorted odds and ends. She also gave me the pot belly stove she's carted from place to place. I've always been facinated by it. It's nothing fancy. I just liked it.
I'll post some pictures in a day or two.
Until next time,
