We ahead on over to Oakhill Baptist Church and the lights keep flickering all during sunday school and church. Stuff is flying around outside in the parking lot. Toward the end of the service Pastor Alan says that one of the members from early service had a tree fall on her house and once the damage was assessed they might need some help cleaning it up. So were driving home and turn on to Gardner Rd. The closer we get to our street the more limbs are down. We turn on our street and trees are down. We get to the top of the 2nd hill and I tell Charles I don't see any trees. We top the hill and there they are. We pull in the driveway and this is the sight we see:
When we walked out the backdoor we were greated with this site.
Shingles missing off the roof. They're scattered across the yard.
Our neighbor lost her huge willow tree. It was uprooted and laying on the fence. The fence held. It's just missing a few boards here and there. Our side yard looked like a down forest with the Willow tree down.
The wind continued to howl and put shingles off the roof. It appears all of the shingles will have to be replaced. If they weren't pulled completely off they were lifted up.
This is another view of the back corner of the house by the gate.
We were without power from about 11:30 to almost 4:00pm. My Blessed Sisters, Pam and Colleen still do not have power at 9:45pm. I'm so thankful our home was spared any major damage nor were there any fatalities. Others were not that fortunate. Severe weather across the country. Heavy rains in Chicago, tornado's in Bicknell, IN to Hurricane Ike in Texas, Louisana and Arkansas. All I can say is Thank you Father. Give strength to those who have lost so much as they face the days ahead.
Ebracing Grace,
